FAQ’s
Where will my photography session take place?
Wherever you feel most comfortable. I can come to your home, meet you at a field, an urban area, a parking lot, a dark alley (well maybe not there). It’s up to you. But try to think outside the box. As long as it’s fun and somewhere in Orange County, CA, I’m up for it. If you want some suggestions, let me know =) For travel outside of Orange county, I charge $1 per mile over the county line roundtrip.
What time of the day do you schedule sessions for?
2-3 hours before sunset depending on the type of session you have.
How long does a session last?
Around 2 hours for a family session and around 3 hours for an engagement, bridal or senior session.
Will I get a ton of pictures with everyone looking at the camera and smiling?
Hopefully not, haha =) My photography style is very relaxed. I try to stray from very posed pictures with cheesy (pun intended) smiles, but if that is the look you are going for I can direct you to the nearest Sears or JC Penny =)
I am hosting a For Your Eyes Only party, what do I need to know?
You will need to provide an area in your home where the gals can change and do hair and makeup. If you prefer, you can hire a makeup and hair stylist to come and get everyone primped before hand, but this would be separate from my fee. As a hostess, it would be awesome for you to provide some refreshments for me (and maybe your guests too, haha). Also, a pose that is popular is wearing an apron and holding a plate full of cupcakes or cookies, so that would be something you could provide for your guest too.
As a general rule, the party will last about an hour per guest. You need a minimum of 3 guests and a maximum of 6, so somewhere between 3-6 hours.
I will provide some fun chairs, sheets, pillows, aprons, and a few other fun props.
Please make sure that the guests are aware that your party will not be raunchy or pornographic in nature. My goal is to give you and your guests a keepsake that you can treasure and be proud of for years to come. I want these parties to be fun, and classy.
I am coming to a For Your Eyes Only party, what do I bring? What do I need to know?
First you should find out from your hostess if she will be hiring a makeup and hair stylist, if not, you should bring things like your makeup bag and anything else to touch up inbetween shots.
You should bring a robe, high heels, and a pair of nude thongs in case the gals at your party decide to share lingerie. And all of your fun lingerie!
The book you will receive has 20 pages, so you will need to have at least 5 outfits to fill up your book. I will provide some things too, like aprons, props, etc.
Also, these parties are meant to be fun as well as tasteful, artistic and classy. These images I will be capturing are not raunchy or pornographic in nature.
When should I schedule my maternity or newborn session?
Maternity portraits look best within 6 weeks of your due date. And newborns are best to document within the first week of life if you want the sleepy baby ones where they are all curled up.
But if you want portraits of your new baby while they are awake and have your session be more of a family session, it’s best to wait till they are 6 weeks, and we might even get a real smile =) I am currently booking 6 months in advance so please plan ahead.
When will my proofs be available?
Your proofs will be available in an online private proofing gallery within 7 days of your session under “client proofs”. I will email you a password when your photos are ready to be viewed. Please feel free to give your password to friends and family. The images in your gallery will not be retouched. If you order prints, then I will retouch the images you choose to order. And if you order a Top 10 dvd, I will retouch all of the ones you purchase. I will also post a sneak peek for you on my blog so you can see what the final product will look like.
How long will I be able to view my online proofing gallery?
Your proofing gallery will only be active for 7 days from the day you receive your password to make room for new client proofs. There will be a $25 fee if you want to reactivate your gallery beyond 7 days.
Why does one of your desk size prints cost $25 and the drugstore costs 25 cents?
Not only are you paying for the print itself, but you are paying for the time it takes to make your print look it’s absolute best. This means editing and retouching it, which can in some circumstances take a very long time. We have to calibrate the image, resize it and order it from a professional printer, who will print your image on high quality photographic uv coated paper. We then have to pay for the prints to be packaged in a professional manner and shipped. At the drugstore, they run your image through a low quality printer and print it on low quality paper, and spend at the most 5 minutes with you and do nothing to make your image look better. In fact, most of the time, your image will turn out looking worse because my computer is not calibrated to their printer.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For sessions I only accept cash or check due in full at time of appointment. For prints and CD’s, I accept paypal. If you do not have a paypal account, it is really easy to set one up. All you need is a major credit card or a checking account to open a paypal account. When you review your proofs and are ready to checkout, you will be taken to paypal so you can pay. If you have a gift certificate for prints, please contact me so I can make other arrangements with you.
How long do you store the digital files?
I will keep your digital negatives/files for 90 days from the date of your session. You can purchase a DVD with all your images so you will always have them.
What does retouching a photo mean?
Each image is truly unique, therefore, retouching a photo is different for every image. It can mean increasing contrast, sharpening, making certain things lighter or darker, removing wrinkles, acne or scars, covering an ear, switching a head with a separate image, erasing strange things from the background, etc. The things we can do to one image are truly endless, and every single image will have different and customized retouching.
What does stylizing a photo mean?
Stylizing a photo can mean many different things and hopefully you like my style already because all of the images you see on my blog have been stylized. I try to not “over stylize” my work. I like to make the images artistic and modern with a touch of vintage. Stylizing can involve changing certain color hues, adding grain, and so on.
